Workabee gives children and young parents a boost

QLD

Earlier in the year, hard-working young leaders from within the property and construction industry gave up two Saturdays for our workabee at the Brisbane Youth Service (BYS) to create a playground for children whose parents are disadvantaged or homeless. The Property Industry Foundation brought the group of volunteers together for the project.

This week BYS hosted a thank you event for volunteers at the centre.

It was fantastic for everyone to see the fruits of the workabee, which included tree removal, clearing, landscaping, mulching, and planting. The result was the transformation of a plain garden into the landscaped playground.

Brisbane Youth Service centre provides a range of immediate and long-term support services for homeless and disadvantaged young parents and their children. The specialised professional staff at the centre provides innovative support and a positive approach to parenting.

Volunteering time can make a huge difference and is an inspirational day for all who commit their time. Volunteer in 2017 with the Property Industry Foundation to help rebuild young lives!
