Brisbane's 5th annual Charity Sailing Cup

Brisbane's 5th annual Charity Sailing Cup

QLD

Brisbane's 5th annual Charity Sailing Cup, held on Friday 18 May, was a tremendous success raising $60,000 net for at-risk and homeless young people.

Before setting sail, guests were treated to a special Q & A session with Mark "Squark" Bradford - Sydney to Hobart skipper, America's Cup participant and Skipper of Black Jack Too and Damon Kelly - Olympic and Commonwealth Games Weightlifter and medallist.

The event, sponsored by Built, saw 40 yachts and over 400 corporate attendees enjoyed a stellar Queensland day, sailing in and around Moreton Bay.

The money raised from this event, will go directly into building Queensland’s first PIF House – located at Clayfield. The Foundation has been gifted a parcel of land from the Queensland Government, and earlier this month lodged a Development Application to the Brisbane City Council to remove the existing house on the property, and construct 3 x 2 bedroom and 6 x 1 bedroom purpose built units, across two stages of work.

The Foundation would like to thank the Sailing Cup Organisising Committee for their dedication and support in assisting with the organisation of this event. Thank you to Chairman Greg Clark (McGees Property) and committee members Ian Richardson (Construction People), Shannon Grant (Built), Rob Fox (AECOM), Jason Thornley (WT Partnership), Elvis Soiza (The GPT Group) and Bob Rice (The GPT Group).

Congratulations to all of our winners on the day -

First Place was taken by SHAPE AUSTRALIA onboard Electra

Second Place was taken by Property Industry Foundation II onboard Black Jack Too

Third Place was taken by McConaghy Projects onboard Dinah Moe

Best dressed team was won by McNab Constructions

Events like this are not possible without the support of sponsors - the Foundation extends a special thank you Christian Adamson and the team at Built, for sponsoring the event for the second year in a row.

Special thank you also to our event host Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron and our event supporter Professional Caliber Security.

A final thank you to the yacht owners, skippers and crew who donated their yachts and time for our event - without whom the event could not go ahead.
