Shaping the future for young people with refurbishment at The Settlement

NSW

National Partner, SHAPE, is going above and beyond by refurbishing the activity and work areas at The Settlement, a community centre and program for Indigenous young people in inner Sydney.  The extensive work will include new equipment for the activity room, a herb garden and refresh of the boardroom and kitchenette.

The activity room will feature new furniture, blinds, a pool table, a 55 inch TV for screening educational material & movies as well as additional storage space. The refurbishment of the kitchenette will involve removing the stainless steel bench and replacing it with a laminate kitchen with a lockable door to dramatically improve the overall appearance and usability of the space. The boardroom will also get a fresh coat of paint and new tables and chairs.

The SHAPE team will bring a new lease of life to The Settlement’s herb garden by planting new herbs and plants - providing a fantastic space for the children to learn about nature.

Once completed, SHAPE will host a celebratory BBQ for all of the team involved, which will be partly catered local indigenous-owned business NCIE.
