Charities We Support

Overview of beneficiaries

The Property Industry Foundation provides financial support and in-kind industry services to a number of charitable organisations that can demonstrate a tangible result delivering programs to young people under their care.

The National Board and State Boards spend considerable time in selecting charities for the Foundation to offer financial and practical support that will result in providing pathways to positive change, educational support, accommodation, and where feasible, jobs with mentor support.

PIF House - A Lighthouse Home

Property Industry Foundation (PIF) partnered with Australand to build the first PIF House in Victoria for Lighthouse Foundation. This six bedroom home houses four young people and two carers. Support was provided by Australand’s suppliers and contractors alongside friends of PIF. Thank you to all who contributed. PIF House will allow Lighthouse Foundation to support many more young people to take their rightful place in the community. This home was officially opened on 26 February 2014.

The Foundation also provides ongoing funding for the Therapeutic Care Program within PIF House.

PIF House 2

In 2015 Henley Properties has partnered with The Foundation to build a second home for Lighthouse Foundation in Coburg, construction commenced in August 2015.

In-kind Donations

The Foundation also supports Lighthouse Foundation with in-kind donations through PropertyBlitz workabees at the Lighthouse Homes and through our PAExclusive Winter Woollens and Toiletries Drives, and our Christmas Gift Appeal.

The Lighthouse Foundation supports homeless young people to take their rightful place in the community by giving them a home, a family and therapeutic care that is proven to work. Through their Lighthouse experience the young people heal, learn to relate to others and rebuild their lives.

Open Family Australia

Chatterbox Bus Program

The Foundation provides ongoing funding for one of the Chatterbox Bus Program’s Youth Outreach Workers. Open Family Australia’s Chatterbox Bus Program offers services to disadvantaged young people throughout the Melbourne CBD. The Chatterbox Bus provides a link between youth on street and the services they need as well as providing aid in food, clothing and health supplies.  On average, around 700 young people access this service each month.

Wyndham Outreach Service

The Foundation provides ongoing funding for a Youth Outreach Worker in the Wyndham area.

Outreach workers connect with the young people to provide ongoing intensive support.

In-kind Donations

PIF's Corporate Donor network assisted Open Family Australia's office relocation and fit-out in 2013. We also support Open Family Australia with in-kind donations through PropertyBlitz workabees at the Lighthouse Homes, and through our PAExclusive Winter Woollens and Toiletries Drives, and our Christmas Gift Appeal.

For more than 30 years, Open Family Australia has been providing a range of Outreach services to young people experiencing high complex needs. Their client group is young people aged between 12 and 25 who are disengaged from society. Over 80% of these young people are in this situation due to family break down or family conflict. This issue goes across all socio-economic groups and may result in homelessness, criminal activity, drug abuse, mental health problems and disengagement from school or employment.

Kids off the Kerb

Social Enterprise Program

The Foundation provided Kids off the Kerb with seed funding to establish a social enterprise initiative – Whitegoods Recycling & Refurbishment program in Thomastown.

Drop-In Centre Refurbishment

The Foundation partnered with Corporate Donor Built Holdings to undertake a full refurbishment of its Drop-In Centre in Footscray. Built committed five Graduate Project Coordinators to manage the project. Built's sub-contractors and suppliers generously donated trades, services, materials and furniture to complete this project. PropertyBlitz Volunteers from Corporate Donor Knight Frank also volunteered and assisted with painting, cleaning and finishing touches.

In-kind Donations

The Foundation also supports Kids off the Kerb with in kind donations through our PAExclusive Winter Woollens and Toiletries Drives.

Kids Off The Kerb aims to holistically assist disadvantaged and at risk young people by providing them with support and linking them into productive activities and programs to help them to achieve a sense of worth, purpose and belonging.  The projects provide young people with real life work experience and training opportunities, as well a pathway into paid work. Kids off the Kerb projects are particularly active in using environmental and recycling platforms to create sustainable education, training and employment opportunities for young people.

Save the Children / Doveton Connect Program

Provision of car

The Foundation supports the Save the Children / Doveton Connect Program by providing a car to assist transporting clients to attend the program.

The Doveton/Eumemmering area has a large percentage of families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD), and a substantial number of refugee resettlements.  Many of these families and children experience indicators of social distress (low family income, housing insecurity); poor health (low birth-weight, childhood injuries); compromised community safety (child abuse, domestic violence); economic stress (unemployment, unskilled workers); and poor education outcomes (non-attendance at preschool, incomplete education).

The Doveton Connect Program supports families with children aged 0-6 years through:

  • Play2Learn sessions –two sessions per week for parents and children, encouraging gross motor activities, art and craft, reading stories and song.
  • Family Support Program – our Family Support Worker 10-15 families annually, providing outreach and referral services.  This would occur 2-4 times a month at the family home and via phone.
  • Community events – facilitate quarterly group outings for participants to become involved in local community events and services.

In-kind Donations

The Property Industry Foundation also supports Save The Children with in-kind donations through our PAExclusive Winter Woollens and Toiletries Drives.
